well, actually katara was fun to draw AND color. that doesn't happen very often. she took a bit longer than expected, but I think she turned out okay. Plus, considering she isn't my character I didn't get the whole Tori, you shouldn't be drawing immodest people look from my dad.

this is for my agreement with :iconkathytachan: I expect a ozai angel or zuko picture soon ';P love ya!!!! take as long as you want

this is also a piece for the avatar 100
I'm sorry no drabble for this one. the summary would pretty much be, Katara and the gaang are in the Fire Nation. Of course, Katara hasn't been bending because they are around several villages. One nightshe can't stand it anymore so she goes out to the river and bends while thinking, 'this is me, I bend water. I don't bend fire, I'm not from the Fire Nation. why should I be stuck without my water? this is me

katara (c) viacom and whoever else owns avatar the last airbender

I’d really like to ask how old you are, but because of internet privacy things, I won’t :aww: The reason why I’d like to is because you are living at home and are in school but there is such a huge learning curve between 10 – 18 and you could really be anywhere in there…Well I’ll do my best to give general advice :aww:
The first thing I would suggest is getting yourself a really good anatomy book. Then study study study from it. Learning where all the muscles and bones connect and fit is the first step in creating really great poses. Unfortunately, these books usually have examples of drawn nude models along with the muscle and bone structures, and from your comment on this drawing I don’t know how your dad would feel about that ^^; If there is a bookstore nearby, ask your dad to help you pick one out that both of you are comfortable with. Another great book is “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” [link]=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1196648237&sr=8-2 You can probably find it at your library as well. This book has a lot of really helpful exercises that teach you how to draw what you see.
The second thing I would suggest (and please understand that I’m not trying to squelch your creativity!) is drawing realism as much as possible. I started out drawing anime and cartoons, but eventually I got interested in realism. When I came back to anime, I found that I was much better at it because I had a better understanding of anatomy and light. Pick a drawing from a magazine, or a picture out of a photo album and draw it as closely to the original as possible. Or put some common objects like pencils, toys, and food under a lamp (so the light doesn’t change while you draw) and try to make them look as real as possible. Sometimes I would draw the same thing several times. Each time, try to correct the mistakes you made in your previous drawings. Start with something not too hard (like a familiar face or a comb) and work up to harder and harder drawings. Eventually, you learn how to draw exactly what you see, and what patterns to expect with clothing, shading, and anatomy. Practicing this will help you become a better artist more than almost anything else I could tell you.
I’d be really interested to see the drawings you do in the future! Make friends with people here on Deviant Art whose art you admire and ask for their help as well. Many artists really like to give advice, especially if you use their advice when you draw. Good luck to you, and I hope this was helpful!

There are three treasures that I hold and keep close to my heart. The first is love, the second is simplicity, the third is overcoming ego.

yeah, I'm in the learning curve, most definetly.actually wierdly enough my dad is fine with that as long as it's for proportioning and anatomy. mainly I use health books for muscle. I'll have to look at that book, thanks. I'm trying out realism a bit. thanks so much those are good ideas.
